Unlock Your Potential and Discover Your Inner Peace with Hypnoasis

What Can You Expect From Working With Me?

As a compassionate and supportive therapist, I truly believe that everyone, including you, already has within them what it takes to make positive changes and embrace the more fulfilling life you’re seeking. My priority is that you feel comfortable and safe because I understand it can take courage to reach out and take the first steps on this journey together.

There are no labels, no ‘one size fits all’ approach with me. Working at your pace and regardless of the challenges you face or what it is in your life that no longer serves you, my flexible approach ensures that the focus remains on finding solutions that resonate with you. It’s not just about addressing the problem; it’s about finding a solution that empowers you to live the life you desire.

We’ll gently explore any outdated or mistaken limiting beliefs you might have about yourself, setting you free to uncover your true worth and potential for growth.

My aim is to empower you through increased calm, confidence, and resilience. I teach you effective and simple techniques and tools to give you back control. To consolidate and continue your progress in between our sessions, you will need to commit to tasks at home – these cover a wide variety of things and might include things such as listening to personalised hypnotherapy downloads I create for you, some reading, or listening to podcasts.

What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a unique and modern approach based on recent advancements in neuroscience. It draws on elements from a number of other schools of therapy, including Solution Focused, Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), along with other elements such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Gestalt. This allows me to create highly individualised therapy based on what will be most effective for you.

I combine this with many years of experience in Clinical and Advanced Hypnotherapy, which as a licensed clinician, uses evidence-based hypnosis to help you achieve positive changes in your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most asked questions relating to Cognitive Hypnotherapy, how I work, and what happens in sessions. Click on each of the below questions to learn more.

What Is Hypnotherapy?

Research shows that our unconscious mind is responsible for 90% of our behaviour in any given day. This means we can remain trapped by unwanted behaviours and emotions – even though we know consciously that they no longer serve us and we don’t want them. Often, we’re not even aware of the limiting beliefs that are holding us back or locking us in a destructive state.

Hypnotherapy is a different experience for every individual. However you can expect it to be beneficial and productive in making the changes you wish to, as well as enjoyable and relaxing, both physically and mentally. During hypnotherapy the unconscious mind becomes more receptive to suggestions so that you can investigate the past to find explanations for your unwanted feelings or behaviours and examine your present to find a solution in a calm and relaxed state. You can also focus on the future to practice new and more helpful behaviour.

Have you noticed times in your day when you are “in a trance”? For example, when you are driving somewhere and arrive, barely remembering your journey? Or perhaps you are so engrossed in a good book, or film, you can’t believe where the time has gone? Cognitive Hypnotherapy believes that we all go in and out of trances every day. When we are “doing” our problem we are in a trance as well. Our techniques seek to alter or disrupt the trance you are in when your issue takes over. In a way, my job is to help de-hypnotise you, so you can stay more emotionally in control.

Drawing on my experience and training, I have the flexibility to approach this task in diverse ways. It’s a partnership. I don’t impose change on you; you discover your own solutions through a thoughtful process and personalised techniques designed to empower you in doing so.

Is It Possible To Lose Control Or Give Away Secrets?

No! Please don’t confuse therapeutic hypnotherapy with stage hypnosis! You will not do anything that you don’t want to do. It might be that our entire session feels just like a chat, or it might be that you close your eyes and simply listen to my voice, but at all times you will know where you are, what you are doing and be able to talk whenever you feel like it.

What Happens At Sessions?

After your initial, free 30-minute consultation and our agreement to work together, we start your therapeutic journey with a 60-90 minute consultation, which gives me a greater understanding of your issue and what you would like to achieve. Many people feel better or lighter at simply offloading and then better still after session two when we delve deeper into reframing. Most subsequent sessions take about an hour.

I also start to teach you tools that help you feel calmer and more in control in the present.

One of the most important aspects of this therapy is your commitment to the process. I may ask you to listen to a personalised download between sessions that I will create just for you. I may also give you other home practice such as specific reading or keeping a few notes. You need to be prepared to commit to these as a vital part of your progress, giving you ownership of your desired change and helping to get you to where you want to be as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

I have a quiet, confidential therapy room in my home in Bicester and also offer online therapy via Zoom video calls.

The service I offer is highly bespoke. I give you care, support and understanding. If you are ready for change and ready to commit to the process, then together we can work on creating that change.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

You may need only two or three sessions, or you may need several sessions and over a period of months. Everyone is different and everyone progresses at different speeds. On average though, most people benefit from 4-6 sessions, depending on the complexities of the issue. We want to make sure that change is permanent for you, and we will constantly review your progress together.

I offer a free initial 30-minute Zoom video or call so that we can discuss your needs and I can answer any queries you might have and we can decide if we’re a good fit. This is because choosing the right therapist is vitally important to the success of your therapy and equally, I don’t automatically work with everyone who approaches me. It may be that during this call, if I believe you would benefit most from a package of sessions, which can be available at a reduced rate, we can discuss this too.

We will have discussed and agreed a therapy plan together at your first session, which we re-visit at each subsequent session. You are always in control of your therapy, and I am committed to helping you to find your solution in the shortest possible time.

How Much Does It Cost?

Each individual session for adults costs £75 (including the extended first session). We generally have weekly or fortnightly sessions initially and we’ll review the frequency together as therapy progresses.

Sessions for children under the age of 14 cost £55.

What Are Your Hours and Where Could You See Me?

My clinic hours are flexible within weekdays between 10am – 6pm. I also offer a limited number of evening and weekend appointments. I have a quiet, confidential therapy room in my home in Bicester, my clinic in Brackley and I also offer online therapy via Zoom video calls.

Can You Work With Anyone?

My practice is covered by very clear guidelines and ethics. As a member of the NCH, QCHPA and CNHC there are certain people who I cannot work with. If you have ever been diagnosed with the following conditions, then I will not be able to work with you:

  • Epilepsy (the deep relaxation of hypnotherapy is contra-indicated).
  • Psychosis (Bi-Polar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder).
  • If you are already working with another therapist, I may not be able to work with you.

What Training Do You Have?

After studying hypnotherapy in depth, I qualified in 2007. I have the Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnotherapy, the Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma, Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy and am an NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Practitioner. I am also fully qualified to work with trauma using Compassionate Trauma Repair (CTR) with Applied Memory Deconsolidation and Reconsolidation (AMDR). I am currently undergoing accreditation for Advanced EMDR. I am a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (UK), and QCHPA.

For more details on my continuing professional development training and both peer group and 1-2-1 supervision, see here.

Over time I have chosen to focus on my specialisms of anxiety and related disorders, phobias, trauma, stress management and confidence issues, although I can also help with many other conditions or issues. The service I offer is bespoke. I give you care, support and understanding. Together we work on creating change. If you are ready for change and ready to commit to the process, then we can begin.

What People Are Saying

I have been fortunate to work with Debbie, and the support, guidance and therapy has been phenomenal.

My experience has been transformational, and I am grateful for her as my therapist. Thank you, very much recommended.

E.W.

Debbie has helped me a number of times over the years, when I have gone through challenging times and struggling. Each time, it amazes me how quickly she has managed to bring me back to a good place with the techniques used and also the way in which she explains and delivers information and knows what questions to ask me.

She has an extremely caring, kind and personal approach which makes opening up within the sessions much easier.

A.H.

Deb helped me get rid of financial anxious and negative beliefs about money.

She is an incredibly thoughtful, caring, and masterful therapist. Highly recommend to anyone who craves a positive shift!
